Flower Growth

Have you ever paid attention to a flower? I am always amazed when I see a time lapse of a flower going through its growth process. (If you’ve never experienced this, check out the video at the bottom)
One thing that these time lapses don’t show is the operations going on under ground. The chemical reactions that are taking place is bringing life to what we see as…the beautiful flower.
I always get a chuckle when I am complimented on how “together” my life is. (If you know me you’re probably chuckling as well) But to those that see me as “together, all they see is the flower. They don’t see the struggles and pains of my life. They simply see me in a passing glance, and in that tiny glimpse, the flower looks great.
The cool thing about this is, I’m not the only one. Everyone has some junk in the closet and dust under the rug. If we had a perfect life, we’d be God, plain and simple.
And with that said, let’s embrace our struggles, rejoice in our sorrow!

“Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations.” James 1:2 [APM]

You see, the seed that makes the flower, comes from a very hard process: death. In order for a seed to be produced, something has to die.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” John 12:24 [ESV]

I wish that the dying process was an easy one, but it isn’t. It requires some sacrifice on your part and the part of others around you.
Imagine that it’s the first time you’ve seen a flower and have no previous knowledge of how such flower is created. I show you a tiny seed and tell you that this beautiful flower came from this tiny seed. You think I’m crazy, right? Even better, I tell you that you put the seed in the ground and it is strong enough to penetrate through the dirt and become the beautiful creation you see before you. It doesn’t seem very possible does it?
Now realize, It IS a struggle for the flower to penetrate the dirt, and it needs water to grow, along with sunlight to flourish. All of  his takes time. But after looking at the beautiful flower, the struggle, effort and time are all worth it.
So maybe you are in the seed stage of life, or perhaps you have just begun to grow your roots, and it’s quite possible that you may have just sprouted above the ground and caught the first glimpse of sunlight. Regardless, you are growing and need some water (bible), sunlight (Jesus), and dirt (some close people around you).
You can make it, just keep your eyes on the final product….a beautiful flower.
