Seeing the World with Blind Eyes

Aug 5, 14 | Biblical Principles

When was the last time you were judged by someone? Was it because of what you were wearing? Something you said? A quirky characteristic you may have? What if we didn’t have our five senses, and instead we only experienced people based upon their hearts? I know this isn’t a new revelation, or anything profound. In fact, the very principle comes from the Bible, as God shows us the correct way to view a person.
“God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7
So, living in a very superficial society how does this principle even begin to work?
I think for starters, begin speaking to the potential of someone. You may not see the qualities in them right now, but your words are powerful. They have the power to speak life into someone and yet with the same mouth can come cursing. James tells us that this should not be (James 3:10). I think the fact of the matter is, if we we’re blind to the outward appearance of others, or if we were deaf to their words, we would see the world differently.
Let us not get caught up on the superficials of life. Look passed the exteriors and speak life to the potential of someone. You never know, it just may change the way you see the world.
